I looked down as I flipped pancakes this morning, and had to laugh at my total embodiment of the foogie concept. Those near and dear would know me anywhere, even if this was all they saw! The Smartwool sock in the worn Birkie, the ubiquitous denim, layered with my new vintage-style nightgown, and the beloved faded red apron that Katie made for me years ago. Don't tell the sartorial police, but I actually love it.

Melissa,

I posted something along the same lines as this post - it has been on my heart all Christmas season. http://mrsrabe.blogspot.com/2008/12/sorrow-in-midst-of-joy.html You do not need to post the link!

Thanks for you posting of Edith Schaeffer's quote - I am going to copy it to read and re-read.

Thanks
Deanna

Oh how I love those socks, Birkies, and all. It's my kinda get-up as well. My Lysha girl just sat down next to me and said, "There's my Aunt Missy's foot," in the most lovingly amazing tone of voice ever. All your posts have touched my heart today, and again, helped refocus me for my mission. That whole "I think I'm losing Jesus" comment from Holy Experience, has really caused me to think and re-think, to pray, and then to pray some more, that I will be thankful, and I will not come up lacking in my service to Jesus and others. I love you my friend. Thanks for the re-focus of my lens this day, and pretty much every day.

It's so wonderfully you. It's what makes you so beautiful, inside and out. I wish I was there to flip pancakes with you, and hug the essence of you!! You are so precious. I loved this post and was so touched and inspired - deeply - by the others before it. Thank you dear sister.

You look fabulous to me! I don't often come across anyone who dresses as I do, lol.

Dear Melissa,
I love it, very prairie chic, so cosy looking, old-fashioned and feminine!
Love, Paula

P.S. I enjoyed reading your two previous posts as well, thank you for sharing your heart and beautifully written thoughts. I was very blessed and helped by your words. Indeed, I love that practical Edith Schaeffer! That is a wonderful quote and my favorite part is "It is another case of the danger of demanding perfection, and ending up with nothing." That is loaded with wisdom and something I need to remember!

Fear not! The fashion-police have been far too busy trying to catch me in my Chaco sandles and outlandish 'tring to stay warm' outfits (you haven't seen the new horrific lavander long underwear and pale blue fleece jammies I bought - even Pam is taken aback!)
