Springtime
.
How sweet a tonic is the spring
Reviving nature's spirit
The sunshine and the breeze to bring
The soft ground's fragrance near it
.
Canada's geese returning home
Northward bound or falling
Greeting more birds as they come
For: "Spring come forth" they're calling
.
Garden beds remember well
Growing warmth and earthworms
Sweet and potent is the smell
Of earth on warmer spring terms
.
The blackbirds call on crystal air
That spring is all around you
It has not died, but growing fair
It has to summer bound you
.
The clarity that sunlight gives
To air with blue sky backing
Illumines trees where budding, lives
Our leaves-to-be unslacking.
